The day will begin with a drive east towards the coast of Tuscany to the intriguing city of Pisa. Of course a visit to Pisa wouldn't be the same without seeing the famous tower, so we willmake sure this is our first stop! The famous Leaning Tower of Pisa is located in the beautiful 'Piazza dei Miracoli' ( the Field of Miracles) which it gracefully shares with the Cathedral, the Baptistery, Campinile and the Camposanto and many unique masterpieces of Romanesque art.
Your day continues on to the elegant Lucca, a city of Roman origins, enclosed by massive 16th century walls. There are many wonderful typical trattorias and restaurants that you can select from to enjoy your lunch. You will enjoy strolling along its medieval streets with nice shops and visiting some beautiful churches among which the Cathedral of San Martino and San Michele in Foro. The Roman Ampitheatre and the birthplace of one of opera's greats Giacomo Puccini are some other things not to miss. If you are feeling energetic and have about an hour to spare, try the walk along the top of Lucca's well preserved 16th century wall. Taking over 150 years to construct, they were especially designedto resist an artillery attack. They are so immense that there is a road that runs along the top, shaded by an avenue of trees. Walking the entire length is a fantastic way to get a general view of the city.
