Terme di Chianciano

The thermal waters of Chianciano have been popular since Etruscan times. At this time the region was famous for its medicines and remedies. The magician Circe, an expert in preparing medicines, made medicines using this water and plant extracts. This town is also of great historical significance. This region was prosperous and the people enjoyed health and harmony.

There are many sources of thermal water.

Aqua Santa
This water is used to treat problems of the liver, bile duct, gall bladder, gall stones and other digestion related problems. This water emerges from the ground at 33°C and is rich in bicarbonate, sulphate and calcium.

Aqua Fucoli
This water is used to treat all types of intestinal problems. This calcium rich water is also used in the prevention of osteoporosis. This water comes out a temperature of 16.5°C and is meant to be drunk everyday.

Aqua Sillene
The water and mud of Sillene has numerous curative properties. It increases blood flow and is also a good antiseptic. It is also a muscle relaxant. Aqua Sillene has temperature of 38.5°C and treatment is through application of mud. Other treatments that use this water are:

  • Hydromassage with air bubbles or water jets
  • Hydrogalvanic therapy

  • Kneipp baths

By Road
If you are driving here take the A1, exiting at Junction 29 to Chiusi/Chianciano Terme.

By Train
The closest train station is 17 km away at Chiusi/Chianciano. Trains stopping at the station come from Milan, Bologna, Florence, Rome and Naples.

By Air
If you are taking a flight you should get to Florence, Pisa or Rome airports.
