Chianti villa accommodation for rent near florence for a splendid holiday in the Chianti region.
Montefolchi Farmhouse - Mercatale, Tuscany
The location of this Chianti Villa is the best place to explore almost all of the Chianti region and ofcourse the medieval towns of Florence, Siena, Greve in Chianti, and Mercatale Val di Pesa during your holiday in the chianti villa. Findings have shown that the area was once the site of an Etruscan village dating back to the7th century B.C. The villa has its private garden with its own "aia" (threshing-floor) where you can enjoy the spectacular Florentine sunsets while dining outdoors or enjoying a lovely glass of wine. The entrance from the garden leads up the stairs to a large kitchen with an original old fireplace. You will have the possibility to use the fireplace in Autumn and Winter to warm up your evenings or to cook, maybe with the help of a housewife that we can provide for assistance. The rooms of the house have been tastefully restored maintaining the original structure of the "casa colonica", though giving you all of the modern conveniences. The big ceiling beam witnesses past centuries and the door framed with stone ( called "colombino), which lead into the kitchen, makes us understand that this was not a house for countrymen but it was a very important military building. In this room there is a satellite television, which will allow our guest to follow the news in their own language. There is also a pull-out sofa bed that allows room for 2 extra guests. Each bedroom of the house has been given a proper name. - LA PIEVE takes its name from the beautiful parish church of S. Stefano a Campòli, which can be seen from the window in this room. This is a large double room with antique wardrobes. - LA ROSA takes its name from the rose painted on the bed and from the one outside, right under the window. This is also a large double room. - BELVEDERE; from here you can enjoy a wonderful view over the countryside. This has 2 twin beds but can be made into a double room on request. - GELSOMINO takes its name from the plant of jasmine , which is outside, right under the window and fill the room with a pleasant smell. Also a large double room. - IL PARGOLO it is the only single room of the house and can be the right room for a child or for a guest that wants some privacy. If you are interested we can organise a rustic or an elegant dinner for you while staying at ‘Podere Montefolchi.’ In every corner of the garden we can place refreshment tables with different kinds of cheese, salami and ham; we can use the old wood ovens to bake rustic bread and cakes; we can grill in the open, maybe with the supervising of the "kings" of the T-bone steak Mr. Falorni and Mr. Cecchini; we can use old kegs filled with ice cubes for the bottles of sparkling wine.....we can do this and many other things! Montefolchi is located on a hill 430 meters above sea level with a view open on all sides. You will have magic moments here, during a starry night of the full moon or at sunset or you can even see the traditional fireworks for the feast of the patron saint of Florence, S. Giovanni, which take place in Florence on June 24th and the fireworks in San Casciano, on August 13th. All around ‘Podere Montefolchi’ there is a park . The park is a wide meadow which runs all around the building. If you have a walk there, on clear days, you will see great part of Tuscany. West you will see Mt. Pisano. the high and sharp peeks of the Tuscan Alps, the Apuane, the tower of the fortress of the emperor Federico II in San Miniato, and great part of the plain and the hills of the city of Empoli. North you will see the Appennines of Tuscany and Emilia with the high peak of Mt. Cimone, Mt. Albano, the city of Montecatini in the background and all the hills around Florence. Then East there is a beautiful view over the city of Prato, Florence and Fiesole, above which rises Mt. Morello. Always East you will see the chain of the Pratomagno, the Chianti mountains and most part of the Appenines of Tuscany and Romagna. South there is a beautiful view over the valley of the river Elsa, the hills of the Chianti, S. Gimignano and some of the fumaroles in the area of Larderello.
