Limonaia Cottage: Self catering holiday cottage located on a private estate just near Florence, Tuscany and is surrounded by olive groves and fruit trees. This cottage stands at the end of an avenue of cypress trees and overlooks a beautiful field so typical of the Tuscan country side. The structure was originally the ‘limonaia’ where the lemon trees were brought in to escape the winter frosts and bitter cold. The estate has mountain bikes to use while exploring the Tuscan countryside and a swimming pool to escape the summer heat. Guests can also use the library in the main villa, where there are lots of books and a very good English video library. On the ground floor of the cottage there is a beautiful living room with the original exposed stone walls. There is lounge seating for 4 with chairs and a table and also a double sofa-bed for any extra guests. There is a satellite TV, an ISDN line and also a telephone. You walk through the sitting/lounge area into the typical, Tuscan-style open plan kitchen. There is a large wooden dining table for 8 people, a functioning stone fireplace, perfect for grilling. The kitchen is fully equipped with a 4 burner gas stove, an oven, microwave, coffee percolator and an electric kettle. The kitchen also features the original marble sink, and there is a small lounge and chairs for relaxing. There is a washing machine in this cottage. Off the kitchen there is also a small bathroom. Stairs to the upper floor lead to two bedrooms, one large double and a twin room, both enjoying splendid rustic views over the countryside. Both bedrooms have very large windows to let in plenty of light. In the large double bedroom there is also a loft, which has a bed for an extra guest. They share a bathroom on the same floor that features a shower, WC & bidet. The ‘Limonaia Cottage’ has been tastefully furnished with a mix of Italian country antique furniture and modern appliances. There are exposed wooden beams, beautiful brickwork, original archways, terracotta floors throughout , books to read, and lots of space to sit and enjoy a glass of Wine or a good book, or both!
