Apartment rentals near Florence, Italy in Lastra A Signa. The ‘Caruso Apartment’ is located on the first floor of an Italian family home approximately 10 kms from the Florence city center. It is in an ideal location near the magic of Florence and to explore countryside of Tuscany, Italy. The apartment has it’s own private entrance and lots of off street parking . It is in a quiet residential street, therefore not experiencing much by-passing traffic.
The charming and spacious rental apartment near Florence has been tastefully renovated keeping the traditional Tuscan feel with terracotta floors and antiques throughout. There is a double bedroom, complete with antique drawers and a large wardrobe. The bathroom comes with a shower, WC and bidet. In the combined dining/living area you will find an open fire, a dining table for 4, and also the original pizza and bread oven which is still operational. In the kitchen you have a double sink, a stove with 4 gas burners, oven, fridge/freezer and all of the cooking utensils, cutlery and crockery you will need. Included in the weekly price is heating throughout the apartment for the colder winter months. A washing machine and clothes line is at your disposal. You also have the use of the wonderful sunny terrace, though sometimes you may have to share a glass of wine with the owners who live upstairs.
The apartment is located only a few minutes walk away from the historic towns of Lastra a Signa, where you will find many local stores for general groceries, restaurants, pizzerias, trattorias and general shopping. There is a pharmacy, butcher, hardware and a couple of banks.
On Fridays until 1pm in the Piazza of Signa, there is a local market with fresh fish, vegetables, flowers, clothing etc. This is a good market and fun to shop and pick up some things to take home. Look for nice linen hand towels, hand embroidered tea towels etc.
Locally there is horse riding, swimming and trekking. Close to buses and trains. The ‘Lastra’ bus company can take you into Florence and from the train station ( about 7 minutes walk from the apartment), you can catch the train into Florence every 30 mins or so. You can also take the train in the opposite direction to reach Livorno and the Italian Riviera, or down to Siena and the surrounding towns. There is also a local taxi company that can take you into Florence from here.

The Caruso Apartment was a great find for us. The authentic artwork in the apartment made our experience truly unique. The owners were wonderful hosts and very welcoming and helpful. We enjoyed our stay and had a truly unique experience and after 5 weeks felt like a local. Thanks for all of your help with the Caruso apartment.
Delores and I enjoyed our stay very much. The apartment is well appointed, spacious and in an ideal location to explore Tuscany. Being near Florence is also a big plus. The information in the folder was also very helpful. We walked over to the market on Friday, and we used the Ipercoop for our basic needs. Although the weather was a little cool in Tuscany, we enjoyed very nearly perfect weather in Rome and Naples.
Please give our best regards to Dr. and Mrs. Toffani and their daughter. They were gracious hosts. Mrs. Toffani served us coffee one afternoon, and she invited us in to see her beautiful house before we left. We enjoyed the bottle of wine form their vineyard. I am sorry that I was unable to converse with them in Italian, but Delores was able to get a few ideas across.
