Farmhouse Solatio is a charming, 2 level country farmhouse accommodation of the 19th century situated in the hills of the Chianti Classico area in San Casciano Val di Pesa. From here Florence can be admired in the distance, and on a clear day it is possible to see the Brunelleschi Dome. Farmhouse Solatio is situated near the owner's villa, in a quiet though not isolated position. The farmhouse has been recently renovated keeping the original features like the terracotta flooring, exposed wooden beams & large fireplace. The kitchen is equipped with dishwasher, washing machine and microwave. The farmhouse has retained the original charm and feeling of the old Tuscan farmhouse, but has modern facilities. The accommodation style is self catering, though the guests have an oppurtunity to hire a Tuscan chef to taste the Tuscan delicacies. There is a garden surrounding the farmhouse on 2 sides where you also have a private above ground swimming pool. The garden is fully enclosed by a wall that borders with the country road leading to the village of San Casciano (1km).
This region produces some of the most famous wines in the world. Villas, castles, and farmhouses are scattered throughout every hill and valley, as if they had been built to watch over an area known the world over for its artistic heritage, history and beauty. In San Casciano, parts of the 14th century city walls and towers still survive. The towns sacred arts museum (Museo di arte sacra) houses a wealth of paintings, sculptures and magnificent gold-wares from several churches in the surrounding area. San Casciano is easily accessible. Its proximity to the city of Florence and the reknowned beauty of the Chianti landscape, attracts increasing numbers of motivated tourists, searching for the memories of a past artistic and literate history and who also take great pleasure in the splendour of the landscape and in the ever changing hues of the various seasons of the year.

Hi Elizabeth,
We are now back home andthought wewould write toyou to tell you aboutour vacation. Compared with the expectation generated by the website we would give a score of 9/10. The villa itself was great . Location near Firenze and easy bus arrangements was a positive.
The hosts were very helpful although most of the time we had to rely on communicating in italian as the english speaking members of the host family were not available much. This added to the experience so is not a real negative. We also had the interesting experience of losing all power in the house for two nights in a row when there was lightning and heavy rain which blew the electricity circuits out. Struggling around with candles only and no hot water did detract a little - although certainly adds to the stories we can tell!!
So overall we would also recommend this villa to others.
