Elves House - Corsanico, Lucca

Tuscany country accommodation in an ancient hamlet, nestled in the hills of Lucchesia, Italy.

Tuscany country accommodation in an ancient hamlet, nestled in the hills of Lucca, Italy. According to legend a small clan of Elves used to live right here in this woods - kind-hearted and fun-loving little fellows - fantastical creatures who would reveal themselves only to a select few. All about one inhales magical energy, as if it emanated from their jolly sojourn in this very country house. On one elevated hill commanding a stupendous panorama of the Versilian seashore and Lake Massaciuccoli, in the ancient hamlet of Casesi-Corsanico, set into the hills of Lucchesia, we find the Elves House. This country house is typical Tuscan architecture of the seventeenth century and has been rebuilt according to the same building techniques of then, in full respecting both history and the environment. The country house is brilliantly sunlit and is made up of two split levels plus a loft. Every room has a window overlooking the sea and a few also look out over the woods. This country accommodation sleeps seven guests in three intimately furnished bedrooms.

Ground Floor: Facing the sea coast, the entryway takes you from a garden into a spacious living room with a fireplace, a small study and a bathroom with shower. A spiral staircase leads to the upper floor which is level with a swimming pool set on the inland side.

Upper Floor: Facing the woods, the entry is from either another garden area or from downstairs. On this side you find a swimming pool, surrounded with fired brick tiles and a lawn for sun-bathing. This floor comprises the kitchen with a second fireplace, a dining room, the main bedroom and a bathroom with shower.

Loft: One reaches the loft from the upper floor and it comprises two bedrooms and two identical bathrooms except one has a shower and the other a bathtub.

Garden: A luxuriant garden of roses, honeysuckle, cypress trees and lemon trees surrounds the house, running up to the woods on one side. A venerable gazebo commands a beautiful panoramic vista and one can sit outdoors to enjoy lunch or aperitifs at sunset.

A barbecue and wood stove are available for outdoor cooking with the old-time wholesome flavours.

Sheds and storage rooms are available from the yard.

Tourist sights and/or activities in the area :
Casesi is a miniature village, a hamlet of Corsanico, which is considered to be the authentic "terrace over Versilia" . The side streets offer picturesque views, stone archways, flowered balconies with red geraniums. The hamlet of Casesi has a single rather old-fashioned shop to buy tobacco, basic food items and a "public telephone", while at Corsanico, 1.5 Km. distant, one finds all types of shops ranging from a butcher to a pharmacy and a Post Office. There are many itineraries one can take, historical, cultural or nature trails: hamlets, trekking, bicycling or horse riding. The closest centres, full of interest and activities, are Camaiore, Viareggio, Forte dei Marmi, Pietrasanta, Massaciuccoli Lake, Torre del Lago, Lucca, Garfagnana and Pisa. One of the most famous and colourful attractions is the Viareggio Carnival. Other acclaimed attractions are also the Puccini Festival, the Versiliana Cafe rendezvous, high society summer goings-on at the famous Versilian beaches.
