Neighboring medieval villages and towns give access to countless restaurants, speciality stores, pizzerias, bars, bakeries, etc. For the wine and olive oil lovers there is a ‘Fattoria’ about 750 mts away that makes their own. Upon your arrival to the ‘Torre di Catignano’ you will find some bottles for you to taste with directions to the fattoria to buy some more!! The estate has a pool with a diving board. From the pool area provides wonderful views of the Tower of Siena and of the Tuscan countryside. Pool furniture and umbrellas are provided for you to enjoy your days in the sun. An electric cover will go over the pool in the evening, though the gardener does come during the week to tend to the gardens and pool area. There is sunken lighting throughout the garden area and around the pool . There is also covered seating areas to dine ‘al fresco’ while enjoying some nice Chianti wines and watching the Tuscan sunsets. This charming stone luxury villa has a colorful past. It was originally built as a lookout tower in the 11th Century. Over the centuries, the towers were taken from the top of the house and the structure was formed as it stands today. It has housed servants and farmers and at one time was even a place where they held local dances. The small, sunken window in the front of the house was the ticket window. The villa itself is around 275 square mts, on two levels and features expensive gardens both at the front and back. It is furnished throughout with a mixture of antique and modern furniture, cotto floors, exposed beam ceilings, and stone walls. On the first level you enter into a large living area and dining room. Up to 14 can comfortably sit in the lounge area while enjoying the open fire. The dining table extends to fit up to 12. A TV, video and stereo are provided for guests comfort. The kitchen, which opens up to the back garden that leads to the pools, is fitted completely with all of the modern comforts and features the famous yellow marble of the Siena area. There is also a private study, complete with an internet, fax and telephone. You are advised to bring your own laptop. There is a door here that will also lead out onto a small terrace with chairs and table. This is a lovely place to enjoy your breakfast. A laundry room containing a washing machine, clothes dryer, iron, ironing board and also a small bathroom with toilet and sink are here. The bedrooms are all upstairs and each has an en-suite bathroom. The master bedroom, which overlooks the olive grove, has mosquito netting, a TV and telephone. The ensuite bathroom also features a shower, wc & bidet. There are two twin rooms that can both be made into double rooms on request. All rooms have wardrobes and drawers for storage. The adjoining ensuites feature a shower, toilet and WC. From one bedroom is entrance to a small terrace with stairs leading into the back garden. The single room also has another pullout bed that is perfect for a child. There is a stereo, bookshelf & wardrobe in this room, and a window that faces out onto the back garden. In the tiny village of Ponte di Bozzone, there is a small shop with absolutely everything. This is only a couple of minutes drive away . San Giovanni is the closest ‘town’, only 1 km away. You can walk to this lovely little town in about 30 minutes and will find a bar, pizzeria, a church and a small general store. Pianella is 2 kms away and features a restaurant, bank, a little supermarket, bar, bakery and post office. The next town is San Miniato which is 10 minutes away and features a bigger supermarket , pharmacy and various other stores. Siena is an easy 15 mins drive. Here you will find absolutely everything you could need. Countless restaurants, clothing stores, speciality stores etc. There is also a hospital in Siena and a train that will take you all over Italy. Countless oppourtunities for wine tasting, vineyard vistis, hot springs and shopping.
